Rare Finds. Real People. Real Impact.

WHY SO RARE PIECES?

Because we believe consumption shouldn’t be thoughtless. What we buy, wear, and give can be more than an object — it can create income, make culture visible, preserve stories, and build connection.

SoRarePieces was born from friendship — and from the realization that once you truly see, you carry responsibility. We’ve seen how women in rural regions of Thailand, Rwanda, and Kenya sustain their families through craft — often invisible, under difficult conditions, without voice, without recognition, without the respect their work deserves.

And yet, they are the ones who carry tradition forward, preserve knowledge, and shape the future. That’s why we created SoRarePieces: a platform that makes both visible — the products and the people behind them.

WHAT WE DO

We work directly with women, families, and small workshops around the world. We curate their finest pieces, tell their stories, and make them accessible to a global community. Every product is a statement: handmade, full of meaning, and fairly paid.

WHAT DRIVES US

We are not an NGO. We are not a brand. We are an independent social business — founded by women, built on friendship, experience, and the belief that global collaboration can be more than just a word.

SoRarePieces stands for impact:

Craft creates income.
Culture stays visible.
Stories live on.

Rare Finds. Real People. Real Impact.

About Us

As diverse as our pieces — so are we

An idea that began in a student apartment in Portugal has grown across countries, years, and life stages into something much bigger — a project with purpose. Today we live between Germany, Spain, and Thailand — still connected like sisters in spirit, only with twenty more years of experience, perspective, and a clear mission.

WHO WE ARE

SoRarePieces was founded by Kathrin Anderseck, social scientist, editor from Germany, partly living in Thailand. Kathrin is the driving creative force behind the project. She writes with heart, thinks in connections, and finds meaning in every detail. Together with Alicia Hermida, designer and art director from Galicia, Spain, she gives SoRarePieces its visual soul — shaping ideas into clear form, color, and identity.

Around them, a small network of wonderful collaborators keeps the project alive with various kinds of contributions:

Elvira Götz, UNESCO Expert on intangible cultural heritage, Jamaica; Bibi Hermida García, administration pro, Spain; Dr. Laura Mokros, Psychologist and Product Scout, Thailand.

And wonderful friends like Hannah, Ooai, Suchida, Feline, Mio, and Nicole, who accompany and support us along the way. (Thank you!)

Our Mission

We would like to show that consumption can carry responsibility — by making craftsmanship visible, giving women a voice, and preserving stories. Honest. Direct. Impactful.
