Our Keyrings are symbols of change, craftsmanship, and hope. These elegant pieces made from fine fish leather are created by women in one of Africa’s poorest regions.

Fish leather may sound exotic, but it’s actually one of the oldest and most durable types of leather in the world — completely odor-free and distinguished by its naturally beautiful texture.

The story behind it is equally remarkable: In Northern Kenya, recurring droughts devastated the local communities. With the help of humanitarian programs, the people around Lake Turkana were able to shift from livestock herding to fishing. Out of what was once waste — the fish skins — Ira and James Ambani discovered a new purpose. They trained in leather craftsmanship and now create high-quality products made from Nile perch leather.

Today, several years later, Ira and James Ambani employ around twenty people — mostly women — across two locations. We at SoRarePieces are proud to partner with Ambani Fish Leather and to present their range of accessories, from keyholders and wallets to these small, meaningful heart-shaped keyrings.
